Typical ranges, not quotes. No tree company gave us these numbers and we set no prices. All amounts are US dollars from pages we read on 2026-11-04. Most of these sites earn money by matching homeowners with contractors, and we found no survey of real Killeen invoices, so use them to sanity-check a quote, not to predict one.

What moves the price

Height

LawnStarter says height has the biggest effect, at $10 to $14 per foot.

Access and what is underneath

LawnStarter says a hard-to-reach tree, near a house, power lines or other structures, can add up to 50 percent. A tree that can be dropped in an open yard is a different job from one that has to come down in pieces over a roof. Tell whoever is quoting how wide your gate is.

Power lines

Texas law keeps people and tools six feet from high voltage overhead lines unless the danger is guarded against, and temporary work that close needs 48 hours' notice to the line's operator. Ask who makes that call and whether the wait or any line work changes the price. Lawn Love treats a tree on a power line as an emergency removal.

Haul-off

The city says "Contractors are responsible for disposing of all brush they cut down", and you pay a charge if the city collects it instead. Get "all brush, logs and chips removed" in the quote, or list what stays.

Condition

LawnStarter says a weak or dead tree may cost less. We would not count on it: brittle wood can be unsafe to climb, so ask if the condition changes the method and the price.
